A Different Use Of and For Human Eyes

1. We think of eyes being used to express fleeting and subtle emotions and to see what’s
flying by and illuminated. Quick eyes are good, and enable one to dodge thrown stones
and spears. Slow eyes are bad, and fail to see the mostly concealed trap or snake in the
grass.
2. If there’s another use for eyes, it’s not well developed in wild animals whose lives
depend on subtle body language and on quick eyes for good seeing.

3. Some humans see with an “inner eye”, which gives a new idea or solves a problem
beyond the reach of other people. But is intuition a function of the eyes? Do people
sometimes use their eyes to see what’s inside?
4. Intuition gets an idea which can’t be obtained by logic, memory, or computation alone.
More intuition gets more ideas which aren’t obtained by logic, memory, or computation
alone. But if many of these ideas aren’t immediately useful, the “inner seeing” activity
may be perceived as useless. People might wish the more intuitive person were more
“practical”.
5. Intuition, memory, reason and calculation all enable a person to perform daily tasks in
our modern world. For many tasks, memory, reason, and computation are enough to do
excellent work. However the tasks which require a fine intuition tend to be more difficult
and it’s easy to make a mistake or not even know how to begin the task. So intuitive
persons should be in demand.

6. Persons who don’t use their eyes to see and to express their feelings are harder for
other persons to relate to and understand. They don’t notice what other people notice,
and they don’t show with or in their eyes what other people are looking for. So the
person lacking in ordinary eye skills may be neglected by other people. The reason is that
people have to work harder than usual to understand the person who is missing some of
the normal channels of communication. If such a person is intuitive, he is likely to be
intuitive about some subject other than people. Because all through his life, most people
have paid little or no attention to him.
7. With these things in mind, we can see that persons with some impairment in memory,
or in computing skills, or in reasoning, or in eyesight will likely have compensated by
developing an unusually good intuition. This intuition is able to get answers to questions
which would baffle persons who have just memorized certain rules but whose talent is
more ordinary seeing, or memory, or reasoning.
8. That is, for example, a person can learn the rules of grammar, and the rules of musical
composition, but not be a prolific songwriter. On the other hand, a prolific songwriter
might not always follow all the rules of grammar, and the rules of musical composition.
This is especially true if the prolific songwriter hasn’t been highly educated in literature
and in music both. So there is a tradeoff in brain use and development. However the
person who is not a master of the conventional knowledge is likely to be rejected.

9. There is apparently a use for the eyes which involves a person staring blankly and
gazing without trying to see anything. Two persons gazing into each other’s eyes engaged
in this way will experience unusual sensations in their bodies and unusual visual effects. In
addition, a person can gaze at other objects or into the sky and sense unusual visual
effects. This gazing induces brain activity which is different from the brain activity
employed when the eyes are being used in the more ordinary ways. Were this not true, the
unusual effects of vision and the unusual sensations in the body would not be experienced.
10. Intuition is focused upon familiar objects and occupations. The person who is very
intuitive about people has had a lot of experience with people. The person who is very
intuitive about dogs has had a lot of experience with dogs. The maker of many new songs
has had a lot of experience in singing. The person who writes many articles and poems
has had a lot of experience in writing. But this activity of gazing is unusual, and children
who spend a lot of time just gazing off into space are considered weird, or even ill.
11. The fact is, children who spend a lot of time just gazing off into space are considered
psychotic. Many of these children don’t learn to relate to people the way people expect to
be related to. Such children have been called “autistic” and “autistic” children are noted to
have little intuition, at least about people, and about activities which are important to
people. However, many “autistic” children have some special ability, usually associated
with memory or applying some rules of logic or calculation. The “autistic” person may
have an extraordinary memory for music, for art, or for writing, but not have a
comprehension of what the writing means to people who are not “autistic”.

12. The missing link, so to speak, is making the connection between the intelligence of
non-autistic persons with the intelligence of autistic persons. This connection needs to be
a two-way street, with the autistic persons benefiting the non-autistic persons as well as
the non-autistic persons benefiting the autistic persons. But so far, society has mainly
tried to educate the autistic persons so that they are more easy for the non-autistic persons
to understand and relate to. This tends to eliminate the unusual behavior of the autistic
persons. Their amazing talent is reduced, and their unusual use of their eyes in gazing
blankly is reduced. This makes the autistics less offensive to ordinary people, but it
doesn’t explain what the missing link is and integrate the missing link in with normal brain
activity.
13. It’s easy to see why the blank staring of autistic children makes people feel
uncomfortable. A parent wants his or her child to interact socially. Social behavior is a
part of normal human behavior. The brain activity of a child who can’t interact socially is
different. The difficult idea for investigators to get is the idea that there is actually
something more in the universe to perceive than what normal, sociable persons perceive in
the universe. And the idea that normally sighted, normally sociable people is missing a
part of reality has been hard for the conventional investigators of autism to arrive at.

14. Doctors are under social pressure to “correct” the offensive behavior. A doctor is
hired by persons who are not medical specialists. The parent perceives that his or her
child is behaving strangely, and social pressure tries to “correct” the child. The idea that
the autistic child is perceiving a part of the universe which isn’t perceptible to sociable
children remains obscure. However this idea is plausible. After all, there are records
from the writings of famous mystics, which described what these persons sensed as they
were staring blankly in an ecstatic, mystical state of consciousness. The difference is, in
the mystic, this state lasted a few seconds or at most a few minutes. But the autistic child
grows up entranced, and locked in this state of perception.
15. The mystic, however, isn’t able to make rational sense of what he senses. We can’t
expect an autistic child to make rational sense of what is entrancing him, since he never
mastered the advanced vocabulary of technical, rational persons. Some autistics scarcely
learn to listen and talk at all.

16. We see, therefore, that understanding this “missing link” and making good use of it is
a difficult problem. We also see why the professional medical doctors are not in a position
to do the required research. They are making large salaries by working as hard as they can
to satisfy the strong desires of earnest parents whose children can’t behave as expected.
17. Even so, if chronic “psychotic” sensations of “Christ” or “God” really heals the sick,
by mastering this mysterious brain process which autistics are unconsciously
experimenting with, more conscious human pioneers will solve this mystery and gradually
turn the whole Planet Earth into a healing shrine much more effective than the healing
shrines at Lourdes and at Fatima and other places where faith healers presently are doing a
good business. In fact this is the scientific research which will turn Earth into a warless
world.
