Wisdom. How to get it?
1. Ask questions of yourself, like
“How do I know this is true?”
Take a walk around the block
And notice something you’ve not noticed before.
Come back to your writing table
And write about what you have seen.
Listen for a sound
You’ve not noticed before,
Like the song of a bird
You can’t find.
You hear the bird singing,
but you can’t see the bird itself.
Then place your right hand
On your chest and
Feel your heart beating.
Now you know why
It is often in you to trust
In what you cannot see.

Wisdom. How to get it?
2. You feel three raindrops
Hit your forehead as you look up.
That is what some Master
has just said as you
sat before him.
But as you meditate,
you yourself go to the shore
And wade in the ocean
Which has been filled
by innumerable rainstorms.
What need have you
of some Master, then,
Except to help you
be not afraid of drowning?

Wisdom. How to get it?
3. The universal mind is
in every pore of your body.
Every cell in your brain
is connected to it.
The universal mind
will bring you home to yourself
As you were when you
were warm and content
Inside the womb of
your mother.
The universal mind
is what you feel as you
feel vibrations in your body
and you let these vibrations
go on and on and on
and on like the waves of the sea.
Just listen and listen
and listen and listen
To the beating of
My heart.

Wisdom. How to get it?
4. Pretend you are
Leonardo da Vinci
Out for a walk
in the bright sun of Italy.
Take a walk on a bright
sunny day.
Go to a rock wall
and look at the different faces.
Make sure it isn’t a wall
of bricks or concrete blocks.
Notice that the individual
stones are different
In appearance but
not in substance.
The forces of nature
broke these rocks out of
the same stratum.
You and I are
chips off the same block.
You are no less
a Master than I.
If you doubt this,
bear in mind that doubt
Is the darkness
before dawn.

5. I would like you
to come visit me.
So go to the mirror
And take a good look
at yourself.
(contributor: John L. Waters)

6. Wisdom and truth
Meet when you hear a joke
and don’t get it.
Enjoying wit in others
Even if you don’t have it
Enables you to be honest
and laugh at yourself.
(contributor: John L. Waters)

7. If you can’t come
and bless me,
Find your beloved
And give that person
A big hug from me.
This is one way
You can bless
yourself.

8. The green ellum tree
Rises to the sky
By mixing sunshine,
soil minerals,
atmospheric gases,
And rain.
Take two hours in summer
And lie beneath the
green ellum tree.
Where its earth,
air, water and fire meet
There you and I shall
be one blessing.
(contributor: John L. Waters)

9. Moses struck the rock
with his rod
And water poured forth.
When you uttered your
first word
As great a miracle was
wrought.
(contributor: John L. Waters)

10. A deaf mute went alone
into the dark forest
And heard a bird singing
Up high amongst the
fragrant branches.
He returned to his home
Singing the bird’s
song.
Some people grow up
saying there is no God.
Then they find the Bright
New Reality
When they are alone
in the midst of a dark forest.
(contributor: John L. Waters)

11. I give you sight.
Step out of doors
And enjoy being
visible.
(contributor: John L. Waters)

12. In every religion
God has a different name.
So it is for you and me.
But once blessed
We tend the same
flame.
(contributor: John L. Waters)

13. To be blessed
You don’t need to read
A large book.
Just a few lines
will do the trick
If you can read
Between the lines.
(contributor: John L. Waters)

14. You and I
Meet at the ocean
In the roaring of waves
Walking in balance.
Put one foot on the sand
And then the other.
