Silver: a Love Poem by Thomas Keyes
Silver and roses, henna and myrrh!
Smell the bamboo, examine the lace!
Redolent blossoms, fragrant of her!
Pale in the mists, her figure, her face!
Memories, heirlooms, visions of yore
Haunting, recalling eras gone by.
“Where is the goddess whom I adore?”
Echoes resound and wistfully sigh.
Brilliant white cumuli towering afar!
Rays of the Sun in azure domains!
Is there a planet, is there a star,
Over the mountains, over the plains,
Calling to me, pronouncing my name,
Bringing her back exactly the same?
